Welcome from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back! I hope you had a fantastic time over the winter break, enjoying those cherished moments with family and friends.

I am very excited about what we've got planned for this term; we have workshops coming up on Revision and Study Skills, perfect for Year 13, Year 11 students and even for parents who want to know how to support their child's revision. Plus, our Catch-Up Intervention Programme for students gearing up for exams kicks off today.

Also planned is our Careers Drop Down Day for Year 9 students and some dressing up too! At the end of term we have our second Prom fundraising non- school uniform day, Valentine themed for some added fun.

As we dive into this term filled with learning, growth, and fun, let's embrace the opportunities and challenges that come our way. I am looking forward to a successful term for our amazing students.

Welcome to our new staff members

Mr Greenwood - Mr Greenwood is our enthusiastic new History & Politics Teacher; he brings a wealth of experience to our team, having recently returned from an exhilarating cycling journey across the Andes. His passion for cycling parallels his dedication to teaching and we are excited to have his fervour for history and politics enriching our classrooms.

Ms Hernandez - Joining our language department is Ms Hernandez, a devoted Spanish Teacher. With a profound love for teaching her native language, Ms Hernandez brings a global perspective, having taught abroad and earned a Masters in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. Her expertise and enthusiasm will undoubtedly inspire our students.

Mrs De Angelis - Adding vibrancy to our team is Mrs De Angelis, our talented Learning Support Assistant. Her artistic flair and creativity bring a unique dimension to supporting our students. Mrs De Angelis passionately explores innovative ways to harness creativity in assisting our learners.

Mrs Dushaj - We also extend a warm welcome to Mrs Dushaj, transitioning from our First Aid department to become a dedicated member of our Learning Support team. Her commitment to students' well-being and her wealth of experience in building relationships will undoubtedly make a positive impact in the classroom.

Religious Studies and Computer Science Update

As you know, Mr Gangotra left MHS shortly before the winter break. We have made progress in our recruitment of an RS specialist to replace Mr Gangotra and have secured a strong teacher that we hope will start after Easter. In the meantime, classes are being covered by an experienced humanities specialist, while we continue to pursue options for an RS specialist for the interim period.

In addition, we have also been able to recruit a Computer Science teacher but are waiting for a possible start date.

Ski Trip 2024

Following the announcement before Christmas, we still have two places available on the school ski trip to Austria at Easter. If you would like more information, you can read about the trip here.

Please contact Sally Thorne sally.thorne@montpschool.org if you are interested in taking the place.

ATTENDANCE (Repeat Notice)

Thank you for your continued support and communication with your child's attendance. You will receive an attendance letter during the first week of Term 3 in January which will inform you of your child's attendance since September.

We will be continuing with our new safeguarding measure whereby you will receive a home visit by 2 members of the pastoral team if your child has been absent for 3 days and they have not returned on the 4th day. If you would like any support with attendance, please email mhs-attendance@montpschool.org or your child's Head of Year. If you have any general attendance questions, please contact me at rachael.jones@montpschool.org.

Please note, in line with our Attendance Policy we are not able to authorise absence for family holidays during term time. We have an extended winter break from 13 December until 3 January and will not be able to authorise extended absences beyond that date.
