WEEKLY BULLETIN

15 March 2024

Welcome from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Community

Ramadan Mubarak to all who are observing this blessed month. May it be a time of reflection, growth, and spiritual renewal for you and your families.

I'd like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Team Geography for orchestrating a highly successful GCSE Fieldwork Trip to Minehead. Their dedication and hard work ensured a valuable learning experience for our students, enriching their understanding of the subject and further fostering camaraderie among our students.

As we gear up for the upcoming GCSE and A Level exam period, I want to assure you that final preparations are well underway. I understand the importance of clarity regarding Study Leave arrangements. Rest assured, Year 13 parents will be contacted directly to discuss personalised study leave plans tailored to their children's needs. For Year 11 students, details regarding study leave will be communicated closer to the designated date.

Your ongoing support and cooperation are invaluable as we navigate through this crucial period. Together, we can ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Yours sincerely

Vanetta Spence

YEAR 13 APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITIES

In this week's assembly we had the NHS Finance team in to discuss the apprenticeships they offer to students post-18. This was really interesting as they have 350 paid spaces at £22,000 for the year. The application deadline is 24 May and the interviews will be after examinations. Here is the link to the apprenticeship page.

They also have plenty of other apprenticeships in accounting and finance. Click here for more information.

UNIVERSITY OPEN DAYS - APRIL

Students in Year 12 should by now be attending university open days ready for their applications in September. Here is a link to all the open days in April. Students will be able to apply to five universities and it’s really important they get a feel for the places as well as understanding the course requirements. Students have so far had multiple assemblies on post-18 choices and in June will have a UCAS day for them to start their applications.

YEAR 11 & YEAR 13 FINAL DAY

We are considering the context for Year 11 and Year 13 last day and will inform you in due course.

We’re now hosting an online session for parents, carers and teachers to outline the career opportunities across Bristol’s HETV, film, and broader creative sectors. Attendees will gain valuable insights from local professionals about entering these industries.
