Welcome from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Community

Welcome back to school after the Easter Break! We hope everyone had a rejuvenating holiday and is ready for the final stretch of the academic year. We extend a big thank you to the dedicated Year 11 and Year 13 students who invested their time in the Easter Revision School and those who diligently pursued home revision during their break. Your commitment to achieving your best in the upcoming summer exams is truly commendable.

A warm welcome to Mr Bundock, who has joined our team to teach Computer Science. We're excited to have his expertise enriching our curriculum. Additionally, it's a joyous moment as we welcome back Mrs Malik, our Assistant Headteacher, after her maternity leave. Her return adds strength to our leadership team, and we're thrilled to have her back with us.

Lastly, a massive round of applause to Ms Nayyar for her incredible achievement in completing the Manchester Marathon in just over 6 hours. Her feat exemplifies resilience, perseverance and the spirit of achieving one's goals - a true inspiration to our students. Congratulations, Ms Nayyar, on this remarkable accomplishment!

Looking forward to a productive and successful term ahead.

Yours sincerely

Vanetta Spence

THE YOUNG CARERS DEVELOPMENT TRUST (YCDT)

The Young Carers Development Trust (YCDT) is offering a new Mentoring Programme aimed at students in Years 9 - 11 who look after someone at home. This could be looking after someone with a disability, illness, mental health issues or a dependency issue. The one-year programme involves a monthly group mentoring session (on a weekday evening at a venue in the Bristol area) with up to 7 other young carers. Food and transport will be provided free of charge. The programme also offers some 1:1 mentoring support, alongside the group sessions, as well as an additional year of online e-mentoring after the programme finishes.

Please contact Mrs Boyes if you are interested to find out more Emma.Boyes@montpschool.org

If you would like to find out more you can visit YCDT’s website here and contact the two mentors delivering the project directly. Hannah and Sarah will be visiting our school on Wednesday 8 May during enrichment time and would love to meet with any students keen to be involved or who want to ask any questions.

UNIFROG INFORMATION FOR YEARS 10 & 12

We have signed up to Unifrog and over the next few weeks students will be logging on and setting up their accounts. We intend to use this for Work Experience placements and it will mean that students can send off a link to their employer to fill in with relevant information about the work placement.

Just a reminder that students in Year 10 & Year 12 need to have a work placement secured for the week 1 - 5 July 2024.

There is a guide to Unifrog for students on the Careers Padlet which can be found under the careers section on the school website.

LUSH COSMETICS

A huge thank you to the manager of Lush Cosmetics at Cribbs Causeway who donated a selection of lovely bath bombs and soaps to our school. The products were a lovely surprise for our students at Welcome Breakfast Club last term, many of whom have arrived recently to the UK from other countries.
