WEEKLY BULLETIN

9 February 2024

Welcome from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Last bulletin of the term and I am hoping for some better weather after the break!

Looking ahead to the next term, though it may be short, it promises to be a busy one. For our Year 11 students, it marks the start of the second PPE window, a critical phase in their academic journey. Additionally, both Year 12 and Year 13 students will be facing assessments, making the upcoming holidays a period of substantial academic commitment.

To facilitate and enhance their preparation, we are pleased to inform you that our students have access to various online revision tools. Specifically, resources such as Up Learn (KS5), GCSEPOD, and SPARX have been made available to support their studies. These tools are invaluable in reinforcing key concepts and providing additional practice to ensure our students are well-equipped for success.

We appreciate your continued support and encouragement as we work together to nurture the academic growth and success of our students. Wishing you and your families a restful half term!

EAR DEFENDERS AND LOOPS

Students should not be wearing headphones in school, whether over-ear or in-ear; they cannot wear them in assessments and need to be ready to access these conditions.

EAR DEFENDERS

If you child struggles, they can borrow a pair of school ear defenders to be returned at the end of each day. If they struggle to use our ear defenders you are welcome to purchase your own. However, they must not be headphones with Bluetooth links.

LOOPS

If you child prefers in-ear noise cancelling then we can support by giving your child a set of loops. For hygiene reasons we cannot have these back.

Both ear defenders and loops help with noise cancelling and sensory overload.

After Half term, your child will be challenged and their name given to the Head of Year and myself, Helen Clark, if they persist in wearing prohibited headphones. Please support us with either purchasing or letting us provide noise cancelling ear defenders or loops.

If a student wears approved ear defenders or loops, we can add this to their pupil passport.

Thank you for all your support with SEND.

SUPPORT PROCEDURE

If you have any concerns or queries relating to your child at school, your first point of contact should always be your child’s tutor. If you are not sure who that is or how to contact them, please email mhs-info@montpschool.org and we will give you the information required.

If necessary, the tutor will be able to refer you on to relevant members of staff and ultimately a member of the senior leadership team, should circumstances necessitate their intervention.

FOSTER CARER APPEAL

At Nexus Fostering based in Gloucester, we’re looking for local people like you to become foster carers. By providing a loving and stable home environment, you can support the increasing number of children and young people in the local area who cannot live in their family homes. Not all children require long-term care; we also need foster carers for short-term placements, respite care, and to provide temporary homes to support young parents and their babies. So, if you have a spare room and are ready to change lives, please give us a call on 01452491980 or email Bridget Fletcher on bridgetf@nexusfostering.co.uk. WORLD BOOK DAY – THURSDAY 7 MARCH

World Book Day is fast approaching on Thursday 7 March. We love to see our staff and students getting fully involved and we are busy planning lots of great opportunities during this week to really encourage and celebrate our school-wide love of reading.

Our team of student librarians will be selling pre-loved books during break and lunch time in the Library on Thursday 7 March.

We are looking for donations of children’s/teen and young adult fiction or non-fiction books that you no longer need. Please ask your child to bring them in to school by Tues 5 March – they can be left at Reception or taken to the Library.

More news about World Book Day plans to follow!
